Issy-les-Moulineaux is part of So Mobility, a public-private consortium awarded as pilot to start tests activities on one of biggest European mobility projects.

The Paris Region is undergoing a huge mobility plan that aims to build more than 200 km of automated metro and 68 stations by 2030. This plan will touch the everyday life of nearly 2 million of people of the Region, but, during the “working” period, it may roughly affect the everyday mobility for some time.

Consequently, the “Grand Paris Express”, the public agency in charge of the project, in partnership with STIF (the public transport company of the Region), launched in late June a tender for pilot activities on mobility that aims to fight one of today issues for citizens: traffic and parking during the construction phase of the project.

Five winners will then be able to experiment their solutions up to next summer.

Among the winners, So Mobility consortium will provide solutions oriented to users, addressing the entire chain of mobility, from the collection of real-time traffic data, thanks to the deployment of sensors to the promotion of multimodal behaviours to reduce car traffic around the construction sites. The use of an automated shuttle solution will be particularly important in pilot experience.

The objectives of the project presented by so mobility partners Colas, Cisco, Indigo and IssyMédia, on behalf of the whole project, are to propose a simultaneous offer of innovative solutions:

  1. Improve parking conditions (information, shared parking, stand-alone parking app)
  2. Traffic flow and circulation (sensors, dynamic information panels and route planner)
  3. Promote intermodal and multimodal shift (autonomous shuttle, promotion of short distance carpooling)
  4. Reduce and optimize the citizens urban travel in terms of time and comfort (SMS alerts, daily pass of 2 hours to co-work to avoid peak periods, an app to report modal shift through the use of parking as optimized multimodal key)
  5. Assess the shift of transport modes of citizens (solution detect flows of vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles
  6. Prepare for a replication model for the "Smart City" concept (publication of a guide on the Smart City network infrastructure to help replication)

So Mobility is an original consortium, which illustrates the need for a new cooperation between public and private actors to build a Smart City model open and effective bringing together all private actors of various fields (building, transport, mobility infrastructures, energy and technology) with the City of Issy and the “Caisse des Dépôts” Group.

Cisco, the Caisse des Dépôts, Bouygues Immobilier, Engie, Transdev, Colas and the Issy, represented by its communication and digital innovation agency Issy Media, will think and act in concert to provide practical and sustainable solutions for travel in the city, which can then be deployed at regional and national level.
