Welcome to “Medialand”
With almost 70,000 jobs in a town of more than 60,000 inhabitants, Issy-les-Moulineaux offers a very dynamic economic fabric. A true Medialand, the town has based its economic development strategy on communications companies. With 1,430 businesses in the town, almost 60% of which are in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector, Issy-les-Moulineaux is focused resolutely on ambition and progress.
High technology at the centre of Issy’s economy
For the past few years, new office space projects have led to the setting-up in the town of some prestigious names from the world of information and communication technologies, most of which have left the centre of Paris and have found Issy-les Moulineaux to be better equipped, more modern and better suited to their development:
- Cisco Systems Europe
- France Telecom R&D
- Hewlett Packard
- Wanadoo Group
- Steria
- Ausy
- Sybase
- CCMX
- GFI
- Wavecom
The presence of several large national and international media groups
The most recent arrivals are mainly companies in the Communication and Media sector:
- Marie Claire Group
- France 24
- EMAP France
- Tests Group
- L’Equipe
- Arte
- Canal +
- Eurosport
- France 5
- Globecast
- One third of the land-based digital television channels
A varied economy
The economic success of Issy is not just summed up by the keen interest shown by media companies. Many other companies have also expressed their wish to set up in what has become a true medialand, for example, Crédit, the Alain Ducasse Group which has based several of its subsidiaries here, and also Coca-Cola, as well as the impending arrival of the head office of Bouygues Immobilier (real estate). It should also be noted that the expansion of companies already present in Issy-les-Moulineaux, such as Orange, Yves Rocher and Steria, are an unmistakable sign of the satisfaction of these economic players.
This clearly unconcealed pride proves, if it is really necessary, that the Town of Issy-les-Moulineaux is really one of the most attractive towns in Ile-de-France.
The companies in the town are at the heart of innovation with, among others things, the testing of mobile television, the next 100 Mb Internet access offers, or the project for the building of a new aircraft carrier.
Issy, a cluster for innovation
With Issy-les-Moulineaux being referred to in three competitiveness clusters certified in 2005 by the French government:
- the System@tic Paris-Région worldwide cluster in the field of industrial solutions for complex information systems
- the 'Image, Multimedia and Digital Living' worldwide cluster
- Vestapolis, a cluster focusing on cars and transport.
